A few things to know…
Your wedding day is not about the photos or videos; it’s about celebrating your relationship, living in the moment, and having fun with family and friends.
Keeping that in mind, if you are really conscious of wanting to ensure that your photos and videos from the day turn out the best they can, these are my own personal tips and tricks…
(Please keep in mind that you will probably forget all of these during your actual wedding day because you will be ~ living in the moment ~ but this is just in case you do want to read some ideas of things, as videographers, that we are looking for.)
My Top Tips:
The biggest tip and most important elements of wedding videography is audio. The words spoken on your wedding day, the heartfelt vows, a funny remark, or a touching toast/speech. This is what is going to bring the video to life. When editing, I centre the video around those soundbites because they hold everything together. Any little sounds I can get will really elevate your video!
That’s why it’s essential that anyone giving a speech at your wedding watches this video: https://www.tiktok.com/@benedicttown/video/7459074939446938913
It’s the best advice I’ve ever heard about how to give a good wedding speech. Please send it to the people who are giving a speech at your wedding!
Some other tips for the wedding day:
Walk slowly down the aisle. Like, really slowly. This is usually the most nervous part of the day, but I promise that if you walk slowly, it’ll give you and your partner a chance to really live in the moment. It’ll also give the photo and video team a great chance to get different angles of that special moment.
Walking slowly through a confetti line or sparklers line is also recommended :)
Movement is key, especially for the video, so just try to have lots of natural movements, especially during moments with just the two of you!
If you are having a welcome party the day before the wedding, consider having some quick speeches during that time from people who aren’t giving a speech on the wedding day. It gives an opportunity for people outside of the bridal party to speak and share their feelings. It also gives more purposeful audio for the video team to use and work with on your video ;)
Just try to live in the moment! This might sound really obvious, but really, the more happy, carefree, wild and silly you can be on your wedding day, the more candid and happy moments we can capture!
